A great way to support arts education and take in some great live music is by going to Arts Jam 2010. Organized by the GRPS Arts Advocates, Arts Jam is a two-hour long concert that begins at 1pm this Sunday, April 18th at St. Cecilia’s Music Center. The concert will be followed by a silent art auction along with a food and beverage reception. The money raised helps support the school district’s arts education programs.

Hosted by Gerry Barnaby, enjoy performances by Majestic Praise, Edye Evans-Hyde, Sweet J, Steve Talaga Trio, Akaray, and Lazy Blue Tunas.

Tickets are just $15 in advance or $20 at the door for adults. Student tickets are only $5 both in advance or at the door for students with a valid ID; call 819-2156 for more information.

St. Cecilia’s Music Center is located at 24 Ransom Ave. NE Grand Rapids 49503.

Thank you to members of the Greater Grand Rapids Community for coming out to support our GRPS Kindergarten – High School Students. At this time, the Arts touch the lives of all GRPS students, weekly, if not daily in Middle School, and High School. With your presence and financial support, you make it possible for Art and Music Teachers to continue to bring exciting, imaginative, focused-learning, to all Students.

As an Educator, and Professional Musician, I want to personally thank Artists, Musicians, Former Superintendent Bert Blake, Business owners, The Student Advancement Foundation, Citizens of the Greater Grand Rapids area, as well as many others for working with our Fine Arts Department. We were mandated to change venue and date just a few months before the actual event. The sacrifices and changes you made in your schedules were tremendous and did not go unnoticed. Thank you, Arts Advocates for making the magic happen.

Thank you for rolling with us. Our 19,000 GRPS Students receive all funds raised from this event. Here's to next year!
